The Optimal Aquaculture Fishing Environment

The Optimal Aquaculture Fishing Environment
This region is fully blessed by nature. It borders Tsushima-cho in Uwajima City to the north and Kouchi Prefecture's Sukumo City to the east. It also overlooks the Pacific Ocean and its dancing Japan Current to the south, and faces the Bungo Channel to the west.
Within this environment, the sea bream are cultivated through their exposure to the tides, developing firm meat with the perfect about of fat.

Ainan-cho is the first place where the Japan current flows from the Pacific Ocean to the Uwa Sea.
The average water temperature is warm at 28 degrees Celsius in summer and 17 degrees Celsius in winter, and the aquaculture fishing grounds are rich in nutrients and oxygen, feeding and raising healthy farmed fish.

The fishing grounds are located in Cape Ashizuri Uwakai National Park, which boasts some of the clearest water in Japan. In addition, the sea in Ainan Town is a ria coastline, which is a perfect environment for red sea bream, which prefers deep water depths of 50 to 60 meters.
For red sea bream, some producers have installed large submerged fish cages measuring 20 m x 20 m, which are unique in Japan, and are cultivating red sea bream in a more stress-free environment.

In the sea around Ainan-cho, the "rapid tide," with its high water temperature, and the "bottom tide," with a low water temperature and high nutrient levels, alternate about every half month.
Aquaculture fishing grounds rich in nutrients and oxygen are formed, and the flow of the tides nurtures farmed fish with firm flesh. This is a special phenomenon that only occurs in the Uwa Sea, which has geographical conditions where part of the Kuroshio Current flows into the inland sea, and the Ainan Sea benefits most from this at the entrance to the Uwa Sea.
